Just a short while ago, Kelley O'Brien and I had a pivotal conversation in which Kelley expressed to me her goal of signing an associate in the auto sales industry as her next R+F business partner. She noted that the men and women who work in the auto sales industry are known to have far reaching networks, amazing work ethics, thick skin and of course, mounds of sales experience. She knew that if she found someone with a foothold in that industry, whom she could interest in partnering with her, in our Rodan+Fields business, she would have an unstoppable team on her hands.
It was a powerful goal.
I could tell Kelley was serious about her goal and as soon as I witnessed her determination, I could think of nothing else than how I could help her achieve her goal. So, the first chance we got, Kelley and I headed out on a mission. We made a b-line for the Austin Lexus Dealership, because, we figured, if we're looking for the best, we should go to the top.
As we wandered around the dealership, sitting in cars, taking pictures, asking about the features of our future R+F Lexus's, we found ourselves posing in front of a beautiful convertible as a friendly sales associate named Al Matthews snapped our picture. Al was nothing if not inviting, welcoming and inquisitive. Man, was he inquisitive! "What kind of company is giving you a Lexus? What do you have to do to get the Lexus? How do you plan on doing that?" And the questions kept coming.. as we exchanged contact information with Mr. Matthews I caught Kelley's eye and exchange a look of pure excitement as we could both tell that the man we'd happened upon at the Lexus Dealership that Monday afternoon was going to be what Gabriel Sedlak would later referred to as "A real diamond for your organization."
Now, Mr. Matthews was no easy sell, by any stretch of the imagination. But he was hungry and that's all Kelley needed to stay laser focused, motivated and determined to never give up on him.
He wanted to know it all- the ins and outs, ups and downs, sideways and diagonals of this business. Most of the question he asked, both Kelley and I scrambled to find answers to. The majority of our early conversations with Al ended in, "I'll look into that and get right back to you, Al!"
But Kelley stayed focused, worked hard and she achieved that goal.
Last Friday, during our corporate event, Kelley and Al became partners in this incredible opportunity we've all found in Rodan+Fields and started a journey together that I am certain is bound for greatness!
Al has already taught us so much about prospecting, state of mind and stick to itiveness. He has an amazing perspective on life, incredible focus and the most beautiful view of the bigger picture, the greater good and what is most important in life. He brought Kelley and myself to a level of competency we didn't even know we were capable of and I am convinced, now more than ever, that with Al on our R+F team, we are taking this Great State of Texas and making it our own!
And it all started with Kelley's one goal.
I am so proud of you, Kelley and so proud to call you, Al, a Starry Knight. Thank you both for joining me on this journey, I would be nowhere without y'all! But because y'all are with me, I'm on top of the world! I owe it all to you and I can't thank you enough! Now let's do this!!
